Affiliate disclosure

Some of the outbound links on Thriftfile carry a referral code. If you buy through one, we may be paid for it.

Affiliate links

Some links on Thriftfile are affiliate links. Click through to a resale platform or a shop, buy a coat or a pair of boots, and that partner may pay us a small commission on the order.

That commission comes out of the retailer's margin. You pay the same price whether you use our link or go to the shop directly, and we never see your payment details.

We may join affiliate programs run directly by retailers and resale platforms or through affiliate networks. Not every link on the site is an affiliate link, and a link is never a promise that a product is in stock or that a price is still current.

How this affects what we write

It doesn't decide it. Products are chosen and judged on what we can check: specifications, materials, published sizing, return policies and the price at the time of writing. A retailer cannot pay for a place in a guide or for a favourable verdict, and we will mention a product we earn nothing from if it is the better buy.

If we ever publish sponsored content or receive a product for free, we will say so clearly on that page, near the top.

Why we tell you

The US Federal Trade Commission asks publishers to disclose any financial relationship with the brands they write about, and we think readers deserve that anyway. If something on the site looks like it breaks these rules, email [email protected] and we will look at it.
